Belfast Litter Pledge

The Belfast Litter Pledge is all about looking after our environment by reducing litter and helping to make Belfast a cleaner, safer, greener place for us all to live, work and visit. This initiative helps us to encourage litter conscious behaviour amongst staff and customers of our businesses in Belfast and can really make a difference towards keeping our streets clean.

We are asking businesses to sign up to our Litter Pledge and commit to:

How did you hear about the Litter Pledge?

We will carry out a follow up visit to your business after six months and will complete a short evaluation form about the litter pledge.

Belfast City Council is the Data Controller, under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR,) for the personal data it gathers for the purposes of providing litter kit equipment to businesses, and a 6 month follow-up visit, to assist them in fulfilling their commitments under the Belfast Litter Pledge. The Council accepts that you are providing your personal data on the basis of consent and are positively agreeing for the Council to process it to fulfil this purpose.

The Council would also like to send you further communications on future litter or cleansing related activities. If you would like to receive these communications please confirm by indicating your consent

Personal data you provide will not be shared or disclosed to any other organisation without your consent, unless the law permits or places an obligation on the BCC to do so, but it may be shared internally with Council staff who are involved in providing this service and, where necessary, between internal departments with the purpose of supporting an effective delivery of the service.

All personal data is held and stored by the Council in a safe and secure manner and in compliance with Data Protection legislation. Information you provide in relation to the litter kit equipment programme will be held for a period of 5 years from the date the initiative concludes. If you also give your consent to receiving cleansing related communications, then your contact information will be held for a period of 3 years from the date you provide the information.
